 Angela Larkan
Angela Larkan started researching orphans in KwaZulu-Natal in 2003 and graduated from Wesleyan University in the United States in 2005 after writing her thesis on this issue. Originally from South Africa, she returned home in 2008 to start Thanda After-School. Angela hopes to use her model and approach to reach more children around South Africa. She was awarded the Mzanzi Soul Award for her contributions to South Africa in 2010 and was a finalist for the 2011 Feather Awards for Community Building.
 Tyler Howard
Tyler Howard started Thanda After-School with Angela Larkan in 2008. Tyler graduated from Colorado College in the United States in 2005. Tyler designed and implemented the staff training and capacity building components of Thanda After-School, which Thanda now uses to train other organizations. He oversees major operations at the Thanda After-School site and works to create partners for Thanda’s work.
 Sbusiso Msimango
Sbusiso Msimango has been working for Thanda After-School since it started in 2008. He grew up in the rural community where Thanda operates and attended the local schools. Starting out as a Matric teacher, he is now the Computer teacher and Thanda’s Manager where he oversees day to day operations of 11 after-school programs and coordinates training of other organizations.
 Mbongelani Doyisa
Mbongeleni Doyisa started working with Thanda in 2008 to help children rebuild houses destroyed in a local flood. From the local community, he has experience and a passion for building and agriculture. He is now the Agriculture teacher at Thanda After-School and oversees the High School programs. He is very excited to extend knowledge about vegetable gardening and poultry farming to many more schools and members of the local community.
